My February round up

So, another month of 2021 is over (although I think I might have blinked and missed the second half of it?) which means it’s time for me to have another little ramble about how my month went.
I had extremely high hopes for February – with its fresh Monday start and the oh-so-satisfying, perfect square it formed in my calendar, I was picturing my productivity levels being absolutely through the roof but – you guessed it – they weren’t. Any time I didn’t spend teaching online drama classes was spent either moaning about teaching online drama classes or lying on my sofa, eating. Not exactly the goal-smashing, positivity-filled Feb I had in mind, but I’m happy, I’m healthy and there are another 10 months of the year left to thrive, so I’m trying not to be too hard on myself.
My February goals
My goals last month were to not buy any new clothes all month, eat a vegan diet 5 days a week, try a new recipe each week and get myself into an evening routine and stick to it. Now I didn’t completely fall on my face with my goals, but I certainly had a few little stumbles along the way.
I didn’t buy any new clothes for the whole month and then on the very last day of the month, I saw a jumper on Depop that I’d had my eye on for ages and I just couldn’t resist.
I definitely didn’t manage to keep up a vegan diet for 5 days a week BUT I didn’t eat any meat at all. I just really like cheese, ya know?
I probably did actually try a new recipe each week, but I didn’t keep track of it whatsoever so I don’t think I can count it as a success.
By the last few days of Feb, I had kind of gotten myself into an evening routine so now I just need to try and stick to it.
Admittedly, it wasn’t the most successful month of my life, but I tried my best and I just need to remind myself that we’re living through a flippin’ global pandemic – if eating a bit of cheese and buying a second-hand sweatshirt is what’s going to make this weird situation a little bit easier to handle, then so be it (am I right?!).
My February favourites
I realise this post hasn’t been the most positive and uplifting so far but it’s not all doom and gloom, there were some things that really brightened up my month and made me smile.
Favourite book
My favourite book this month by far was The Authenticity Project by Clare Pooley – I LOVED it. It was such an easy and uplifting read, full of warm, lovable characters that I got so genuinely invested in. Would highly recommend if you’re looking for something heart-warming that you can get truly stuck into.
Favourite TV show
Much like last month, I spent a LOT of time on my sofa watching TV in Feb so I can’t possibly just pick one favourite show, but I’ve narrowed it down to two. We re-watched Line of Duty in preparation for the new season later this month and I forgot how great it is, so I had to give it a little shoutout. My slightly more rogue choice would definitely be Interior Design Masters – I loved the first series, but I think the standard this year is even higher, and I just love seeing all the amazing, creative ideas the designers come up with. I’d definitely recommend giving it a watch if you love interior design.
Favourite food
This has got to go to the Doughnut Time DIY kit we got for Valentine’s day. We had so much fun decorating our own doughnuts (even though I don’t have an artistic bone in my body), and they tasted DELICIOUS!
Favourite product
I’d heard lots of hype about the L’Oréal wonder water which is now available in the UK, so I thought I’d pick some up and give it a try because my hair is dry (anybody else absolutely gagging for the hairdressers to reopen?!) and so far, I’m pretty impressed with it!
My March goals
One of the reasons I decided to make small monthly goals instead of big, overwhelming yearly ones was so that if I didn’t have a great month goal-wise, I could just pick myself up, dust myself off and crack on with the next month. So, without dwelling too much on what I didn’t quite manage last month, it’s time to set my March goals.
I'm not going to buy any takeaway coffees
I'm going to get into a good morning routine
I'm going to book something that I can look forward to after lockdown
I'm going to start a new hobby
So, here’s to a new month and being another month closer to sunshine and freedom. I’m not one to wish time away but I must admit, I’ve never been a Jan/Feb kinda gal, so I’m thrilled to be welcoming March and the prospect of sunnier days, lighter evenings, and maybe even getting to see my friends and family.
I hope you’ve enjoyed reading my February round up and I really hope you had a great month.

Getting into a routine is a long process that involves dismantling old habits and setting up new ones, so if you were basically there by the end of the month I'd count that as a goal well smashed :)
